Matthew Altoft first developed an interest in headaches and jaw conditions after seeking treatment for his own conditions growing up. After finding a clinician that could offer him the help he was looking for, he started working at a healthcare clinic as an Allied Health Assistant to learn more about the area. He went on to study Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland and cemented his interest of working within this area after meeting Nigel and Scott from the Headache, Neck, and Jaw Clinic. After graduating with First Class Honours, Matthew sought to work at the Headache, Neck and Jaw Clinic, eager to help clients with such conditions.

Since finishing his university studies, Matthew has continued his learning journey and attended multiple courses to hone his skills. Professional development that Matthew has attended includes:

  • Watson Headache Approach Level 1 and 2 courses
  • Dry Needling and Acupuncture
  • Introductory Vestibular Rehabilitation
  • Airways and Sleep Disorders Program
  • Advanced Management of the Upper Cervical Spine and Head through Australian Specialist Physiotherapy Education
  • Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) - A Physiotherapist’s perspective

Matthew continues to develop and apply these skills and education in clinical practice with his clients, with training other physiotherapists, and through Griffith University’s physiotherapy program.
