With over 25 years of clinical private practice experience in South Africa, England and Australia, Megan van Selm has developed a strong background in manual therapy and chronic pain management, and a passion for treating headaches and neck pain.
Megan recently relocated to Brisbane from Perth, where she established and directed her own private practice in the northern suburbs. Prior to that, Megan’s 10 years as a musculoskeletal lecturer and tutor at the University of Notre Dame, honed her ability to educate patients effectively regarding their conditions, something that she feels is imperative to offering comprehensive physiotherapy service. She takes pride in integrating manual therapy, targeted exercise prescription, and patient education to achieve optimal outcomes.
Megan holds an Degree in Physiotherapy (Honours) from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, a Graduate Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (with Distinction) from Curtin University of Technology, and a Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) from the School of Physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame. Her MPhil. thesis and clinical study explored pain modulating factors, in particular, the concept of Visual Analgesia on experimental, deep tissue pain. This research culminated in her journal article being published in the European Journal of Pain.

When not at work
In her spare time, Megan enjoys being outdoors, especially near the ocean. She has a passion for sports, loves both pool and open-water swimming with friends, and enjoys playing tennis. As a newcomer to Brisbane, she is embracing the city’s vibrant coffee culture and exploring the lush Queensland countryside.
